'Walk with ZAZI at Sisters with Blisters 2013’

The ZAZI Women and Girls Campaign, being funded by USAID/PEPFAR, is calling on all women, girls and men to join the seventh annual Sisters with Blisters Walk on 23 November 2013 at Blue Hills Country and Equestrian Estate in Gauteng. Sisters with Blisters website

Sisters with Blisters, sponsored by Jacaranda FM and 1st for Women, is being underttaken in support of the 16 Days of Activism against women and child abuse that takes place from the 25th November - 10th December.

"ZAZI is honoured to be part of this year's Sisters with Blisters and we are grateful to Jacaranda FM and 1st For Women for the opportunity", says Bronwyn Pearce, Deputy Country Director at John Hopkins Health and Education South Africa. "ZAZI was created by women for women and the message that the campaign carries resonates with that of Sisters with Blisters", continued Pearce.

ZAZI, was launched in May this year, and encourages women and girls to draw on their inner strength, and self-confidence to know themselves and what they stand for in order to guide their decisions about their future. It also encourages women to adopt a zero tolerance towards gender based violence in their own relationships, communities and the country as a whole.

At Sisters with Blisters, ZAZI will have an information stand and provide free counselling and testing for HIV. Participants will also get the opportunity to meet their favourite personalities from Jacaranda FM, 4Play: Sex Tips for Girls and Intersexions as well as the opportunity to receive pampering spa treatments from Mangwanani African Day Spa.

The walk takes place at the Blue Hills Country & Equestrian Estate, Main Road, Midrand in Kyalami. The start times are 07:30 for the 8km, 08:30 for the 4km walk with dogs and the second 4km walk starts at 09:30.

Proceeds from the walk go to Women and Men Against Child Abuse and Sonke Gender Justice Network. Charities supported in the past include Ikhaya Lethemba, The Leigh Matthews Stress and Trauma Centre and Bethany House.

ZAZI is a national campaign for women and girls in partnership with the South African National AIDS Council, including the Women's Sector, the National Departments of Health, Social Development, the National Department of Women Children and People with Disabilities and the USAID| JHU HIV Communications Programme.
