Intersexions eyes Feather Award

SABC1 award-winning drama series Intersexions which just finished its second season , has been nominated for the Best TV drama category at this year's Feather Awards.

The series which was funded by USAID/PEPFAR was produced by Quizzical Pictures in partnership with SABC Education, Johns Hopkins Health and Education in South Africa and CADRE kept its audiences glued to their screens with its gripping storylines that focused on exploring issues of love, sex, HIV, and relationships.

The Feather Awards recognise and celebrate all who empower the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Intersex (LGBTI) community.

"Intersexions has always pushed the boundaries when it comes to tackling what are often difficult and taboo subjects, but has always tried to do it in a manner that is entertaining and educational.

This time around the series grappled with secrets and relationships and the risks confronting men who have sex with men in relation to HIV and also addressed issues relating to discrimination and sexual violence against lesbians."

The Feather Award nomination is a tribute to the power of partnerships that included the LGBTI organisations OUT and FEW who helped us to shape the characters and storylines on these issues says" Lusanda Mahlasela, deputy director at Johns Hopkins Health and Education in South Africa

The awards ceremony is billed for 14 November in Johannesburg
